Netgalley is a wonderful wonderful site if you’re a book blogger. It’s a place where publishers and authors share electronic galleys of their forthcoming books – you can request access and if you’re allowed, you get to send a copy winging its way to your device of choice.
Good, right?
But it’s really really easy to let those books stack up. They don’t stare at you accusingly from the corner of the room like physical copies do, so I have to admit that I have a really embarrassing record there. So I’m joining in with Sophie and Suze’s netgalley challenge to clear my numbers up.
I’ve requested 51 titles all told on netgalley. I’ve given feedback on 30, so I make that 59%. I’m in the middle of reading another title so that’s going to help, and then I’m going to see what I can tidy up in terms of giving feedback (I know there’s at least one more I’ve read that I never did the feedback on, so I can get that sorted out pretty quickly). And then what I’m going to do is alternate one netgalley with one physical book until I get my backlog cleared.
And I’m absolutely not requesting any more books from there until I’ve cleared 5 off the backlog pile by hook or by crook. Sometimes auto approval is not a good thing.
If only there was a little money in book blogging. Sigh.
Book in progress right now is The Last Leaves Falling
. Which I’ve stalled on because I’m afraid of the sadness that I suspect I see in my future. Not because it’s not a good book – it is, it’s an excellent book. Otherwise it wouldn’t be causing feelings, would it? But I’ll get that polished off this weekend. I’m afraid there may be rather a lot of reviews in your near future 😉 (Turns out the challenge doesn’t actually start until Monday. Am still finishing the last leaves falling this weekend.)
