My Health with Patient.co.uk – a sponsored post.

Having given birth just over 10 months ago now, it occurs to me that I really ought to be feeling a little bit more myself than I actually am. Or more accurately, that perhaps there should be less of myself than there is. I don’t feel fit healthy and raring to go, I feel flabby, saggy and rather pathetic. So when I was offered the chance to get involved with Patient.co.uk via Tots100 and do a MyHealth questionnaire to find out how healthy I really am, I leapt at the chance. Slightly slowly and in an ungainly manner, but leaping nevertheless 😉

The website is clean and professional looking. There’s loads of information on there, and plenty to engage you. The questionnaire is comprehensive, going into detail about your physical attributes (you’ll be needing to know a variety of measurements, get the scales and the measuring tape out!) and the medical details of you and your parents. It then gives you a score that equates to a position in a queue of 100 people. Being further back is better. Now I know that I’m overweight at the moment but I still didn’t expect to be told.

Jax, you are currently in the queue at position: Q44

This is a medium risk score. You could, however, move down the queue by at least 16 places to sit within the healthy range.

We advise you to see your GP Some of your assessment responses indicate that you should visit your GP at your earliest convenience so that they can further assess and advise you.

Please click here to print a letter that explains why we are referring you. You should take this letter with you to your appointment and give it to your GP. You should not be unduly alarmed. We are referring you because one or more of your results are sufficiently outside of the healthy range to require discussion with your GP. You should not however ignore this referral.

Eek! Quick bout of hyperventilation, and I opened the referral letter to find out what the problem was. Apparently it’s my (lack of) waist 🙁 Although it isn’t obvious when I’ve got my jeans and big jumper on, there’s rather a lot of flabby stuff wobbling about my midriff, sufficient to highlight possible health risks. I did wonder about whether this would be discounted due to the recent giving birth incident, but I was able to ask a Patient.co.uk representative during a twitter chat, and apparently, if the birth is over 3 months ago, I should still follow up on the referral.

So, there you have it. I’ve set my personal goal to be to both lose weight and lose waist, and I’ll be making an appointment to see the GP just to get the other factors checked out. Given that my genetic father started on heart attacks at 39, it’s something I’ve always been aware of, and with four children to look after, I need to keep myself in tip top condition.

So, thanks for the timely kick up the backside, Patient.co.uk, and I look forward to seeing how I step back in the queue as I sort myself out.

Do feel free to pop over and check yourself on the site and do come back and tell me how you get on!

  1. Thanks for your review, Jax. Following your post I logged in and got my score – 69 which I am quite pleased with given that I am quite down on exercise at the moment due to lower back pain. (I weighed myself 1st Jan and was shocked to discover I’ve put on more than a stone since Oct half term when I first got hurt)
I also got DH to have a try, and like you his score was a shock – but I think a good one, if its prompts him to take action. Didn’t have time to enagage with the rest of the site before bed last night, but will peruse later. Thanks!

    1. I’m really glad it was useful for you both Debbie.

  2. That sounds like fun x popping over to have a look right now x
