Mummy, where's my trident?

“It’s in the kitchen dear.”

And the little red devil shot off to the kitchen, reappearing smiling a moment later complete with trident. 🙂

It was a Halloween party, in case you hadn’t guessed. But that was at the end of the day, and the start of the day was on the other side of next town over, dropping Tim off at a van hire company. He’d hired a large van for a couple of days, the plan being that it was finally time to empty the garage at old house. In the event they gave him a luton van, which was even larger than he’d wanted, but it turned out that the taillift was handy.

Me and the kids came home, and I hung out washing in the glorious not very autumnal sunshine while waiting for the midwife to come do a home visit in prep for home birth. The phone was ringing as I went back in the house and it was her saying that she was running late, but would be here as soon as possible. Which wasn’t very soon it turned out, rather interrupting the finishing off/ making costumes stint I had planned.

However, with my beautiful sewing machine and some red felt, it was quite easy to make the boy some horns and a tail, and while searching for a witch’s hat for big we came across a long sleeved red t-shirt which completed the outfit wonderfully. Then off to the coop to buy a party food contribution on the way, got a few smiles as I wandered around accompanied by a witch and a devil 🙂 Managed to buy her a hat and him a trident, and they were both very happy.

The party was fabulous. Good food, good company, even indulged in a cup of mulled wine. The children crafted, played games and did trick or treat within the household 🙂 I finished off another pierrot leg, and chatted, and was kept well supplied with tea.

Small had his first encounter with sparklers, which he thought were a good thing. Big I think has met them before, and very much enjoyed them again. Can’t believe that both Em and I forgot our cameras, we are hoping that L will have got some good piccies, he was informed he was the official photographer.

And eventually, at about 8.30, I gathered up my offspring and brought them home through the fog. I found it slightly hair raising, can’t imagine what the cyclist thought he was playing at. Indicating would definitely have helped.

Children straight into bed and asleep very quickly afterwards, Tim made it home around 1 am (though I didn’t know the time at the time iyswim, I just registered him as present), and there went another day.
