lovely lie in

and managed to read the first of the pile of books that Jonathan pressed into my arms (or at least left on the car seats 😉 ) the other day. Actually, there was an odd synchonicity there – I’d discovered the author’s blog in wanders around blogland and decided I was intrigued by the story – and then discovered that Jonathan had found it just a little earlier in time to have bought it and read it.

Review? Kind of easy on the mind (do try to disregard the cover), and I’m looking forward to the sequels.

Other than that, I managed a little more Christmas shopping – ordered our wine (know I’m running a bit late, hope it gets here on time!) and finally found a film (or three) for Big. Plus some clothes for both of them – kind of traditional to buy a new outfit. Usually the legs on the trousers for him trail on the floor, suspect they will again this year, d’you think he’ll agree it’s the thought that counts?

Barely seen the children today – am in a fragile state, may be getting round to that time of month when I burst into tears copiously for no particular reason. Good, that’ll make Christmas even better! They’ve done something approximating writing practise though, as they’ve started writing out their christmas cards for school. Got to be good for something, haven’t they? This was of course after working through the instant “I can’t” that follows asking Small to do anything involving reading or writing. Sigh. He can write his name, and has been doing for ages, but he will deny all knowledge if you ask him.

And that’s today. Hope other ppl are managing a more festive approach to the festivities.

  1. yeah, not writing any cards other than to a few far flung aunts and uncles! Makes me feel very relaxed 😉
And doing the rounds of hundreds (or so it feels) of Christmas ‘things’ (have decided to adopt a generic term encompassing plays/concerts/productions/services, as I keep being told I’ve got it wrong!).

Nope! Had to go to McDonalds! And more shopping today, yuck. Also, why do people post cards when they live down the road and see us every week? 🙄
    Moan over 😉
