Last year I sort of took part in a challenge to live below the line, spending only £1 a day on food and drink. When I say sort of, I mean I had all best intentions to do it, but then really didn’t 🙁
This year I’m wondering about trying it with a variation. I’ll have an 8 week old baby (fingers crossed), so there are some corners I just won’t be willing to cut. So what I was thinking was budgeting it out for a family of 6, as we will be then, and then confessing our sins on a daily basis.
Tbh, I think the challenge is more relevant than ever. Prices are going up all around us. Benefits, including in work benefits such as tax credits are being cut. Jobs aren’t there to be found, and times are hard in our developed country. And yet we are rolling in the lap of luxury compared to some countries in the developing world. So thinking about what we spend, how we can cut back and what it really means to have no money is more and more something I think we should all be doing.
So, would anyone fancy joining in with a blog version of this? If I can get linkytools to recognise that I’ve paid for my subscription, I will add a linky here for anyone blogging about it (ETA done!), or if you’re just interested but not blogging about it yet, leave me a comment, and then when it comes around in May, we can have a carnival 🙂
