this collecting of resources is beginning to pay off. Big is showing a real interest in science and experiments, and appears completely unaware that it’s education and didn’t ought to be done on a weekend 😉

So today she sat with Tim and read another page or so in her solar science kit and we set up an evaporation experiment on the windowsill. It doesn’t appear to have worked particularly well, unfortunately, so I think we might have to have another think about that, but it still means she did reading and talking and planning. Oh and measuring 🙂

Lots of playing outside in the sun today, although they did keep retreating inside to cool down. On one trip in she found her Jigsaw Atlas of Britain and Ireland and spent some time doing that, with lots of chat about who we know who lives in which bit of the country, and some talk about North and South that didn’t really seem to sink in. Ah well, foundations laid and all that.

This morning they both did cards and we sent off a parcel off a sand art picture. Oh, and I posted another Muddlepuddle Home Ed bookbag to an old friend 🙂 I pottered my way through some washing and inflated their bouncy castle as I’d promised – that has to be plenty of exercise for today, it was hard work! And I remembered to put sun tan lotion on before I went out in the garden, *and* I wore a hat!

This afternoon faded away during the football. The children were fed by Tim and amused themselves with a tangram set. I particularly liked Small building a thunder cloud to rain on Big’s houses! Oh, and I nearly forgot that she asked to spend some more time on KPL and was doing alright, when my laptop decided to play silly beggars and have its trackpad stop working. Will have to make sure she gets some more time doing that as and when she fancies.

Tomorrow I think they want to glue. I couldn’t face it this afternoon and tried to redirect her into finishing off one of her many unfinished craft projects from around the place. (hm, wonder where she gets that tendency from? :?) but she couldn’t really be distracted, although she did do a bit more knitting.

It’s amazing how much they can fit in when you aren’t trying, isn’t it? And Small rounded off the day by successfully using the toilet again after his bath (he did yesterday as well) so he has a pull up on overnight again. He does rather seem to like them, and we are at least persuading him to sit on the toilet every now and then, so I think I’m happy to call that progress 😉

  1. That sounds a very productive day 🙂 Shameabout the football 🙁 we watched it too though I usually never do, I could see it was quite exciting. Got that jigsaw book – it’s a good one.

  2. Hurrah to Small!
