It's time to talk about Christmas shopping.

yes, again.

I know I already blogged a review of Rakuten’s play.com (I hope you found it useful). Today I’m going to pop on a few more reviews and affiliate deals that I think you might find useful.

First of all, you can save 50% off The Gruffalo Soft Toys at Hive.co.uk which I have to admit I’m massively tempted by. I love the Gruffalo, and the Hive network supports local bookshops (as well as me if you use my lovely affiliate links 😉 )

I’ve also just discovered that topcashback are offering a stunning £20 bonus for telling a friend about their service, which is rather splendid. I use them extensively for online shopping, and the amounts add up to a nice bonus that I usually cash in for vouchers (you get a bonus if you do it that way) round about this time of year to spend on presents. So if you’re not already a member, what are you waiting for? Get signed up and get money back on your shopping.

Thinking of personalised presents, if you have a digital camera — whether it’s your smart phone or your DSLR — chances are you have a lot of wonderful photos of the people you love. And there’s a pretty big chance that if you do, those photos haven’t seen the light of day since you first took them, posted them to Facebook, or picked that new wallpaper for your smart phone or computer.

Now, imagine those photos in a book, given as a gift. Wouldn’t you look like the best most thoughtful person ever? Yeah, you pretty much would. And with Blurb’s easy, custom books, you can make a photo gift book that’s both personal and extremely polished. And with the code SAVE30, you can save 30% off as you’re doing it. Bonus.

You can use your Facebook photos, Instagram photos, or photos on your computer. You can design your own book, or have it automagically created with Blurb’s Designer Collection templates. All these tools are designed to run right in your web browser, letting you make a real book in as little as ten minutes, and they start at just £12.99.

Of course, this is a custom gift, so you don’t want to be last minute about it. Even though you can order up until December 19, ordering early is always better (and a bit cheaper too). Don’t forget the discount code SAVE30.

If you’re considering adding chocolate to your gift pile, you could do worse than consider the Tesco chocolate range. I was fortunate enough to be sent a couple of bits for review, and while I confess I wasn’t expecting all that much, I was very pleasantly surprised.

First of all, the presentation for the small box of chocolate is really rather good.

There were, if I recall correctly, 8 stars in the box. I was sent Gingerbread stars and they were lovely – sadly moreish, so no one else got to test them. Oops. If I’d had something resembling self control, I’d be able to say that actually half a box was an ideal helping, but I don’t, so I can’t.

The big Chok Blok™ isn’t quite as gloriously packaged. I think that’s a bit of a shame to be honest, as it lets down what would be a really lovely present. Apologies for the poor quality of this picture taken with my left hand, but I wanted to show you the thickness of the chocolate – it’s a really hefty slab. This one proved too much for even me to devour in one sitting.

Usually I prefer my chocolate plain and unadulterated with other flavourings, but as a seasonal treat, this selection is worth a second look, and they’re very good value for money. (I’d tell you exactly how much if I could find the piece of paper that came with them, but I’d need to be organised to do that. I do remember being impressed by the prices though.)

So there you go. I ate chocolate for you. Aren’t you proud of me?
