to claim the day has improved? Perhaps I’d better stick with it’s improving 😉
After a traumatic half hour on Small’s part, when someone mentioned lunch to him, and he realised he hadn’t had breakfast (it *was* offered, but he was too busy being read to, then drawing, then dancing :roll:) and of course, you can’t have lunch before breakfast, we’re now much calmer.
Big recovered from her writing and proceeded to sit and draw invitations for today’s party. This involves writing a time and a place on lots of little pieces of paper and then going round the house giving them to ppl. They’ve both danced loads to disc 2 of The Best Party Album in the World…Ever
(No, I’ve no idea why disc 1 doesn’t cut it – but I’m now considering teaching them the moves to the timewarp, which would be funny 🙂 ) and then Small asked me to read to him some more.
This probably doesn’t sound anything special to most ppl of small children, who I’m lead to believe enjoy sitting still for stories. Most of the time, Small isn’t interested, so having him demand the rest of More Katie Morag Island Stories
having had one this morning, was really quite special. Big cuddled up with us as well, and then wanted to read the first one to herself, which she’s doing (voluntarily!) now, while Small is painting.
The tv hasn’t been on at all today. This is the way flexi-schooling can work for us – and I’m getting to spend a lovely day with my children. Yes, I’m blogging and reading blogs in and amongst, but it is in and amongst, I’ve stopped and gone to help, or read, or get paint, or whatever on request.
Time to savour what I have, and what I have is good.
