I think that went fairly well 🙂

Think I’m going to be popping back for a second, more technical interview in a week or so’s time. So I should still be alright for Kessingland, especially as I stressed today that I am away that week. Got to get your priorities straight, after all! 😉

And of course I’ve another interview on Monday as well. You know, I’m beginning to think I might just be employable after all!

Which, along with the nearly three hours I’ve spend in the car today, has given me both motive and opportunity for thinking.

We, as a family, are committed to home education. I, as a person, enjoy raising my children, but I also quite enjoy working. Feels rather schizoid actually, hated trying to get ready this morning into a suit while persuading Small to eat his breakfast and so on, but rather enjoyed being a real adult in an interview, talking technical stuff, and not having anyone ask me what I would do for childcare. That’s my issue, not the employer’s, and refreshing to meet with someone who recognised that fact! Between us we should be able to meet all of these needs, surely?

There’s been a lot of talking today, and there’s likely to be a lot more over the next few weeks. The children didn’t really state opinions today (Big sat working through a maths workbook (yes, the same one as last night 😉 ) while we were talking and Small ran in and out and was fascinated to discover he has a nose, I have a nose, Big has a nose…. 😀 ) but they will be involved in decisions as and when they come up. It seems likely changes will be made, but as of yet, it’s nowhere near clear what shape those changes will take. Exciting times!

This week has kind of gotten away from me both work and home education wise (and housework, but nobody is surprised by that, are they?). The children don’t seem to have particularly suffered, they had time with Grandma yesterday while I ran off for a haircut (*how* much????) –

and we’ve just had a flying visit from Kirsty and her younger offspring dropping off a puter –

and spent time with Tim this morning while I was off at my interview. Big has been busily educating herself with a maths workbook, and Small appears to finally be starting to play some of the naming games he’s always ignored in the past.

And the sun is still shining. They’ve had tea, and it’s zone out time with 64 Zoo Lane. 🙂

  1. 3 interviews in as many weeks?! Do you know how hard it’s been for Neal to get interviews after having studied hard for 2 years? I think he must have chosen the wrong subject. Sounds like they’re coming at you faster than a sub-machine gun Jax! You’ll probably end up choosing which one you want 🙂 Well done. Did that solar food ever get cooked?

  2. So will you be working FULL time then jax??
I.E will we never see you again?

  3. Solar food didn’t cook.
Interviews, hm. I’ve got 6 years experience prior to having Small, and I’ve got *the* industry qualification this year. My cv seems to work fairly well. Last time around though I got three first interviews and three rejections, so I’m not going to count chickens yet.
Jayne, I don’t know. Place I went today would be a relocate I think, although probably not immediately. It might be possible to wangle a compressed working week, but basically, for programming, most jobs are full time, and I was only part time previously as I was in a job and went part time after maternity.

  4. Oh wow Jax!
Hope it works out for you 🙂 🙂

  5. back – so unhibernate please, and can we have a compressed update from everyone, as srarted at numberr 1, and taking ages!!
congrats on job interviews. if you’re popular, no harm in going for compressed – as per european directives etc, once youve been working there for 6 months and got a child under 5 you can apply for flexible working patterns [well, you know all t his] anyway, compressed is what i have

  6. So am I the only person who knows how to hibernate and unhibernate myself or (panic) am I commiting an awful mudpud faux pas in doing so?

  7. roflmao – I think June may be the only other person who puts herself on and off ring as it were, don’t think anyone else took notice of their password 😉 No faux pas, as Tim says, it’s muddlepuddle, you’re allowed to be different 😀

  8. Phew!

  9. Does sound exciting – really hope it all works out well for the whole family. Need a photo of the expensive haircut, too, please – was it worth it?!
