I think I may be having a midlife crisis.

baking, yoga, more baking, cooking. Doesn’t sound like my usual draft post.

It was Tim’s birthday. We started the day by giving him presents. The children and I had done some work (ie every time he was out of the house for nearly 3 weeks!) on his family tree for him, as it’s something he has stated an interest in several times. It was a good thing to look into together as well – we learnt lots about how to do research as we were doing it, although not as much as I’d hoped we would about his family.

He seemed very pleased with it anyway, and the children’s handmade cards, although I’m still not convinced that he appreciated how much time and effort had gone in to compiling the few pages of information in the folder!

Presentation done, it was time to do some baking 🙂 It was the last session of baby yoga and we’d all agreed to take some food in to share. I’d asked if it was OK for Big to come along and got the nod, so she wanted to help bake to take it in. Small declined to assist or attend 🙁

We baked mini chocolate chunk muffins. They should have been chocolate chip muffins, but we didn’t have chocolate chips or muffin cases, so instead of 12 cakes, we ended up with 32! The Galaxy chocolate was very good in them though 🙂

Final baby yoga was fun, although there were only two mums with babies there. There was a new member of staff trying it out and Big, so the room didn’t seem quite as empty as the week before.

And that was that. Haven’t signed up to any more courses for soa just yet, she’s had massage and yoga, though I might try to get to a baby rhyme time at some point. Then again, I might just keep taking her to music group 😉

Home again, and we set about preparing a birthday meal for Tim. iirc there were pork chop things without the bones, potatoes, vegetables and dumplings which were cooked in veg stock with leeks and cabbage. All very nice. And we baked a cake, though it didn’t turn out very cake like – it was called chocolate crunch and wasn’t particularly crunchy either, but was very good with ice cream 🙂 (Big was somewhat upset that it wasn’t very cake like, but Tim didn’t seem to mind at all.)

So there you go, two lots of baking and some hefty cooking all in one day. Doesn’t sound like me at all, does it?

ps what do you think of the gallery option for pictures? Good? Or do you prefer them inserted separately?

gallery photos better than none at all but i prefer uploaded individually else it crops them square and sometimes the picture loses impact. However, gallery much quicker but M complained and said he really doesn’t like the gallery, he likes pictures and words intermingled. If you know or find a way to upload in original format easily please let me know as it is timeconsuming and irritating. Was much easier in Blogger.

    1. you can upload multiple pictures at the same time but insert them separately, but presume that’s not what you mean? I’m not overly impressed with how the gallery chops them about, but I’ll play with it some more to see if I can fine tune it.
Should be possible to get white space between them, surely…
