K looked fabulous in her dress – she’s slim anyway, and blonde and can carry it off. S looked proud in his suit and there were hordes of little bridesmaids and page boys, as well as two adult bridesmaids.
They had a ceremony done by One life ceremonies which was quite lovely, with a reading I can’t remember at all, and then exchanged Inuit wedding vows which I thought were quite beautiful.
You are my husband/wife
My feet shall run because of you.
My feet dance because of you.
My eyes see because of you.
My mind thinks because of you.
And I shall love because of you.
I think they alternated lines, and K ran, and S danced, which is appropriate to them if you knew them 🙂
There were many photographs taken – my brother in law M is a professional photographer (as many of you know, given he did Kirsty’s photos 🙂 ) and he had come fully equipped. At one point he was heading outside with the happy couple to dodge the raindrops, and he handed me a seriously enormous camera and said head and shoulder shots, off you go. I’ve never played with a toy like that before, it’s a completely different experience. Not least in that I’ve never carried a camera that made my arm ache! I’m hoping that we will get to see at least some of the photos at some point – Tim did take a few with his little camera as well, but I was a bit feeble.
There were many friends of my parents there – I think that bride and groom’s friends were attending in the evening mainly. So there were lots of “so you’ve moved” conversations, and “I hear congratulations are in order” (especially after my father mentioned it in his speech!). I particularly enjoyed the surprised “you look lovely!” that I got from several ppl although I could have done without the stomach patting that started up 😉
The food was very late in arriving – nearly 5 o’clock before we were served (the whole thing kicked off at 2) but was fabulous when it did arrive. Tim and the kids had beef – on huge plates, poor Small was dwarfed by his. They ate well though, which kept them going a bit longer, although by about 7 Small had had enough.
It took us another hour to disentangle, lots of ppl to find and say goodbye to, our clothes to recover from a bedroom and so on, but we managed the dash to the car in between the rain showers, and then back to Jan’s for calming and relaxing.
