He smiles at the camera now

But the picture I’ve just edited is hiding somewhere. Restoring this phone from the backup of the review phone, then attaching dropbox and Google instant upload has caused a certain amount of confusion. Apparently there are 2689 pictures somewhere. I’m not quite sure where though.

It’s been one of those days. I spent 40 minutes or so frantically looking for a bill, then gave up and called the local council to get the details. The number on the website obviously wasn’t the right one, but Richard in accounts was very helpful. The switchboard cut me off, so he tried again. The second time I was put through to a recorded message saying they were very busy and so not answering the phone after three o clock.

Richard was slightly incredulous about this. He finally found someone in the correct department.

Who was about as much use as the proverbial chocolate tea pot. Apparently he couldn’t give me the details of how much I owed because of data protection.

I’m sorry, but that’s twaddle. It’s my data. There should be a way of verifying me, and when I told him I knew perfectly well it wasn’t data protection law, he changed his tune and went for the council procedure line.

So it’s council procedure to refuse to tell me how much I owe if I haven’t got the account number. If I had the account number that would be because I’d found the bill and I wouldn’t have needed to call in at all.

Grrr. Do me a favour. If there are any stupid systems where you work, don’t make someone else challenge them, do it yourself. For the good of all of us.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I know this picture is here somewhere…

Eta found it in dropbox. Does this work?
