Five things you need to know about your father.

Friday Club

Written for the newly returned Friday Club carnival at Notes from Home.

1) He always tells the truth. Unless it’s funny. This makes him rather like Roger in Roger Rabbit. Apart from the ears and the whole being a cartoon thing. He’s not a cartoon thing.

2) There’s not an awful lot he can’t do. He can fly a plane, fix most things about the house and garden, program a computer, cook rather better than your mother can and sing beautifully. OK, I’m not being entirely truthful about the singing.

3) He really did read most of a library when he was a teenager. No, I don’t know why either. And he says I’m OCD.

4) He’s nearly never wrong. This is his own description of himself. I take the fifth on this one.

5) He does too snore. I refer you to point 1.

I found this surprisingly difficult to write. But I’m glad of the chance to stretch my brain cells a little. Thanks Ella.

  1. You’ve been very quiet about your OH over the months I’ve been reading you. He sounds like a real doer, fixer and entertainer – the perfect combo for a Dad.

    1. He used to even post on here every now and then, and as you can see, he’s found the comment option…

  2. I am deeply offended by the bit about the singing. I do so sing beautifully.

    1. Perhaps we should record a vlog and let ppl judge for themselves…

  3. You make a great team. I would record that snoring just to prove he does

    1. We do. And I think that has been tried, only against me!

  4. I love a man who can fix things 🙂

  5. I love a bit of banter online – Actually Daddy usually chips in on my posts. Just hugging himself with pride on this one though. Nice post 🙂

    1. Cheers. Surprisingly difficult to write though!

  6. Thanks for commenting! I like the Roger Rabbit comment! x

    1. It’s one of our favourite family sayings.

  7. Hi, I have to admit I found it really difficult to write my post on this too… Fun though. :o)

    1. yes, a good prompt.

  8. This is lovely. I only discovered this meme yesterday s will look out for it. I love this one & your list is a super one! Could apply some of them to my hubby!

    1. It’s a great meme – does that mean you’ve not come across Ella’s blog before though?

  9. He sounds very accomplished, lucky you!
Thanks for taking part, really appreciated x

    1. She really doesn’t appreciate me.

      1. I was about to say shhh, he can hear you… then I realised he already commented!

  10. Ha, I have a snoring denier too, despite his readiness to point out to me the nights when a gentle snore may or may not come from my direction! Lovely post 🙂

    1. It’s very difficult to get them to come clean on snoring isn’t it?

  11. Wow. Hold on to him. Especially if he really is always right! And snoring is a small price to pay for a man who is handy, non?

    1. Hm. I’ll think about that!

  12. He’s always right! Really? I thought most men only THINK they are right 😛
He sounds like he’s helpful around the house, sounds like he is a keeper!
