a pile of stuff – which has cleared a corner of the room, and recycled some of the packaging I’ve been hoarding. Result!
And our shopping trip to Netto was OK – Small really loves going out shopping with me, strange child. He’s pretty well behaved as well, as long as it’s just me and him 😉 Very confused in Netto today though, as there was a man going round with a trolley, putting stuff back on the shelf. He couldn’t make head or tail of that. I got a big jar of coffee, then a bit further round the shop, found the smaller jars at a much cheaper price (even though the big jar had 50% extra free) so I took the big jar back. The chap with the trolley was incredibly grateful that someone actually put something back instead of just abandoning it, which rather made me wonder about our approach to this stuff, as a society. How come we expect other ppl to clear up our mess? I mean, I don’t. I don’t drop sweet papers (although I will hurl apple cores into hedges 😉 ) not that I very often eat sweets! I think one of the things I would find oddly difficult about smoking would be dropping the cigarette end – it always amazes me that ppl who are otherwise caring and thoughtful will just drop these wherever they are.
Bizarre, the CBeebies team has just sung the old night night song from their new base – wonder if they’d been getting complaints? Does anyone else think it’s slightly freaky how horribly cheerful they are at all times? And how they sing and dance!
And in other news today, feedback has been received on the screening doc I was agonising over last week. They like the look of me – I’ve an interview on Friday. And before the interview, I have to go into the agency offices and do numeracy and verbal reasoning tests. Joy. I’ve been sent samples of these – very reminiscent of the tests I had to do for my job at the bank. I got what became known as the perfect score on those – a couple of points lower than my soon to be boss who did them at the same session 😉 So that’s trips to Leeds and Halifax, looks like I’m in for a busy week.
No sign of Big yet – she didn’t take pjs, so I assume she *is* coming back tonight…

well, if you’re footloose in leeds………….
Ahhh, I *technically* don’t smoke – and have (and will) carry ciggie butts around till I find a bin to put them in – IMO it’s equally as bad as dropping any other litter on the floor.
I don’t drop litter but I do just put things back anywhere in shops ( unless fridge stuff) keeps someone in a job. When I worked in a big shop there was a girl there whose job that was so I always think of her LOL!
Way back in the days when HSBC was Midlands bank (and Unisys were Burroughs), my dad (as a Burroughs programmer) used to do a lot of work for them, and for some reason acquired some copies of their aptitude test – I was quite chuffed aged 10 or 11 or whatever to discover I could get a job with Midlands bank 😉
Good luck with it all, anyway 🙂
Hmm, yes I confess to doing the same as Ros – although it did used to make me laugh when I was one of the people who’s job it was to put stuff back where folk dumped stuff and the thinking behind it. In your coffee eg you would not be surprised to see lots of jars of coffee abandoned in the cheaper coffee location, but finding stuff like beans in with the coffee is beyond me – you are walking along, trolley loaded with beans and suddenly you see the coffee and slap your forehead saying ‘of course, what a fool am I? It was not beans I needed at all to go with my morning croissant, it was coffee!!!’
Good luck for the interview – hope it goes well.
Thinking of you on Friday Jax. xx
With you on the litter thing, Jax. I think it’s more down to pride and respect for your surroundings than expecting others to clear up afterwards. It was very noticable when I moved house. In my old house, the street was run down and full of litter. I can’t say the culprits even gave a second thought as to whether their litter was picked up or not, and that goes for everyone from the actual residents to the school kids who trapesed up and down as it was a cut-through to the local (very popular) comp.
And well done on the interview front. Good luck.
adding my best wishes for the tests/interview/job stuff, Jax.
Good luck 🙂
Jax, i’ve got no outgoing email and i need you. Can you ping me please :~)
re Cebeebies…
yes I noticed the bedtime song is back, good job too, it’s part of the bedtime routine here! They are all obnoxiously cheerful though arent’ they?
