Actually, the first two factors mean there isn’t a lot of other stuff going on 🙁
Children have been largely self entertaining, although we did take them out and buy them new maths workbooks as the previous ones are in a box somewhere. Big started on Mega Maths this afternoon, she can do it fine, but she doesn’t think she can.
Small, on the other hand, got very stressed by his book, a Maths PUzzles and Games book from Parenttalk/ whsmiths. It’s set up around an imaginary Kidsclub, which is supposed to be like an afterschool club “near where you live”.
“How do they know where we live?” was the first and obvious question. Oh dear. I had to explain that the Kidsclub was made up and he couldn’t join it, and on top of the fact that he was struggling with the puzzles, the book fell out of favour immediately. 🙁
And I’ve been working on my TMA. I think I’ve more or less cracked most of it, though I was highly amused, when googling to find an alternate explanation of one of the concepts, I found the exact question listed (and then deleted!) in yahoo questions.
I’d have got further if I hadn’t sat in the reclining chair earlier today and fallen asleep. So deeply asleep that I didn’t hear Tim and the kids leaving the house – they went down to the seafront for some fresh air. It’s the first time in days that it hasn’t poured down on and off all day, I definitely recall someone telling me that it rains less here, so I imagine that’s it for the next month? Hm. Perhaps we should set up a rain gauge and find out for ourselves.
Other things – Tim’s brother and sister in law came around for fish and chips – that was good. We chucked the remnants out on the lawn and watched the seagulls clear them up, the robin and blackbirds finished off the little bits. The gulls were quite amazing actually, the smaller blackhead gulls weren’t allowed to land by the larger ones, and at one time I think there must have been up to about 6 large birds taking off and landing in quite a small space outside the patio doors. We’ve taken the net curtain down now, so we got a pretty good view 🙂
And that’s about all I can recall from the last few days, which have passed in rather a haze of feeling happily sorry for myself. I don’t really feel like I can complain about feeling so rotten, given the cause, but it is taking it out of me, and as Tim is away, with the car, for the next couple of days, it’s going to be very hard work.
Ah well, early nights I guess 🙂
