Dora and Friends twitter party coming soon to a timeline near you

The more observant among you may have noticed the lovely new badge in my sidebar that says I’m a Dora and Friends party host.

Just in case you hadn’t, here’s a close up:

I confess when I signed up to this I just saw Dora and thought yay, because when Big was the age Smallest is now (keep up) we were huge Dora fans. I think this is why Big always wanted to learn Spanish, and the refrains of Vamanos, Backpack, backpack and of course “so we can be safe” echoed through her early childhood. The opportunity to go through it all all over again, rather appealed – Smallest has already got a backpack and I’m fairly sure has watched a few episodes, so this sounded great.

Except this isn’t Dora as we know and love her, this is Dora a little bit more grown up. And I have to admit I’m a tiny bit nervous. (Not good with change. I should get a t shirt that says that.)

I’m sure Smallest will love her anyway. The new Dora looks rather more relatable in some ways (more normal head for one) and it’ll be just me that’s missing old(young) Dora. New Dora and Friends: Into the city airs on Nick Jr on Mon 3rd November at 5 pm, and to celebrate we’re having a real life party that evening, and there will be a twitter party, using the hashtag #DoraandFriends. There will be chances to win lots of prizes and the party starts at 4 so do feel free to join us online.

What do you think – does it make you nervous when characters change? I winced my way through the recent Postman Pat movie I have to admit, although the children loved it, and as for what has happened to Bob (I thought it was a spoof. I wasn’t the only one, was I?) well, just no. Tell me I’m not alone?
