Monday was one of those days. By about 10 o’clock I was offering Big out on brightkite – she was in a foul mood for no apparent reason, and any interchange with her resulted in screaming and wailing or stropping on her part. Not fun.

Despite this, she managed to be quite productive, and started work on some friendship bracelets and keyrings to sell at the weekend, using the macrame book I’d got from the library (An Introduction to Macrame). It is of course pretty much all the same knots that are used in scoobi-ing, but that was no surprise 😉

So lots of measuring and counting up as well as manual dexterity in practise, which was good as neither of them did maths last night. I read some of Circus Shoes to Big while Small pottered in the bedroom, mainly playing with duplo as far as I can tell. He’s been carried away with the measuring too – slightly obsessed by feet and inches as he can’t find anyone with a proper foot as he calls them 🙂 Did read on wikipedia that one suggestion is that the foot was measured with the boot on (far more practical for pacing out construction sites for example) and at that point we discovered that Tim’s shoes do measure pretty much a foot. Success! Like to see this kind of organic learning running alongside the maths workbooks 🙂

Other than that, they’d putered and watched iplayer pretty much all day. Keep telling them that they are going to regret not having played outside when the summer ends, but they don’t seem to believe me 🙁

  1. Ah! Thanks for the foot explanation. C once discovered the same thing and was most aggravated to not find a proper foot. Will tell her when I see her.
