Colour my grey day

Right now I’m really enjoying photography, and particularly sharing it on Instagram, where there are some wonderful communities you can join in with by tagging your pictures. I thought I’d share a few of my favourites here.

#colourmygreyday is for those days when you need a pop of colour. This evening’s picture, taken during this morning’s cool down was perfect.

The tag was started by Marisa, who shares gems like this hydrangea

I also shared into #outdoorsandhappy a really supportive community who recently featured my autumn leaves. This one is also great for outdoor adventures with small children, and is run by Joy

#smallmomentsofcalm is run by Rachael Lucas and her instagram is just filled with perfect illustrations of it.

Another lovely family of tags come from heitermagazine, and work around the heiter idea, so #beheiter #heitermoments and so on.

That had to make you heave a happy sigh, right?

Oh, and then there’s the creative tags. I started #acreativepractice and I use that to focus on fitting in regular creativity. Eg

I also like #ourcreativeselves from Shalagh – a lovely collection of her work here.

I find instagram to be a really supportive community, and love the friendships I’ve made there. Do you have any tag communities you love, or accounts you’d recommend?

  1. I love your Autumn Leaves and your Morning Water. About the embroidered table cloth in your teapot photo…. I used to have one exacty the same. It was embroidered by my Grandma some time last century (she was born in 1903 so it could have been any tme during the next50 years). I’m wondering now if it was done from some sort of kit or popular embroidery pattern. I gave mine away last year when I was decluttering as it was pure cotton so I never used it – life’s too short to iron table cloths. When I was a young child my mother used to send out a weekly bag of dry cleaning that would be delivered back in a big flat blue box.

    1. I think the table cloth is in Rachael’s photo, I shall direct her over here 🙂

  2. I haven’t really joined any Instagram communities as such. I don’t get many comments and that’s probably why. I really struggle with the ‘staging’ of pretty pictures and posting often enough to make friends.

    1. I don’t do a lot of posing tbh – trying a bit more with my bookstagram account, but my own account is mainly flowers and the occasional painting!

  3. Dear Jax thank you so much for the mention. It makes me so happy that you enjoy using #colourmygreyday. Hopefully we’ll see more people using it, but you know what, I’m pleased with how it’s progressing. ?

    1. I love how it’s progressing – have seen a couple of lovely hashtags get big very quickly and they aren’t cosy places any more. I like cosy 🙂

  4. What a really lovely post. Blogging has moved away so much from how supportive it once was so I’m really glad our insta community has made the move back that way. Thank you for sharing outdoorsandhappy and I will be sure to take a look at the other tags you mentioned too.

    1. Hope you enjoy 🙂

  5. Oooh lots of great new Instagrammers to check out. I do love following your posts. Little moments of beauty and tranquillity x

  6. Some people’s Instagram feeds are just goals. They are literal perfection. I love keeping and making mine just filled with daily memories but I kind of wish I had some consistency.
