Childhood, captured or lost.

image

Childhood is:

Long afternoons on the beach.

Icecream dropping down your fingers.

Damming a stream, paddling on the moors.

Weeks in tents, books at bedtime.

Endless games, never ending dreams.

Tears over popped balloons, friendships broken and just as quickly mended.

Childhood should not be:

Hunger.

Hard work.

Loss of siblings or parents.

War.

Violence.

Fear.

Children in west Africa are losing their childhoods and their lives to hunger. WorldVision is working there, and until the end of August, gifts received via their website will be doubled by the government. So if you want to donate, now is the time to do it. And the other thing you can do is spread the word. Join the bloghop, blog about what childhood means to you. Tweet, Facebook, google+, pinterest, do whatever you can to raise the profile of #LostChildhood.

What does childhood mean to you, @BigFashionista, @ChildLedChaos?

  2. Thank you so much Jax for your support and taking part in thinking about what childhood means to you. This is a particular favourite of ours: Tears over popped balloons, friendships broken and just as quickly mended!
We’ve added it to our pinterest wall – https://pinterest.com/worldvisionuk/lost-childhood/ – would love to know your thoughts!
