Can't remember when I last blogged.

Yes, I know I can go look, I’m about to!

Eek, nearly two weeks ago! (Well, for blogs that actually talk about what we’re doing, rather than comment on the news or anything.)

Let’s see. Kids had a couple more party invites last weekend, one was for a local party, the other not so much. So on Saturday I took them to an hour of the first party, then we came home, ran around, climbed in the car and drove to Reading, as you do. Did really well right up until we got into Reading when it all went a bit pear shaped, but was recovered in time for us to get to the Portico and manage a cuppa before dashing out again with capable navigator (thanks Gwenny 🙂 ) to go to C’s swimming party.

Lovely to see various ppl again, and the kids loved it. Small had a complete meltdown when he had to get out of the water, but we bumbled our way through it and had food, before going back to the Portico for soup, wine and very long chats. I think some ppl went to bed at various stages, while we three mothers sat up chatting until far too late. Ah well.

Morning, more chat, food and back into the car to head for home. Journey back was reasonable apart from the accidental trip up the M6 toll – signposting was dire, all along saying that the lane we were in was M42 and M6 and then suddenly it wasn’t 🙁 Still, it seemed to trim the journey down quite a lot, and we found a handy Little chef near Derby and had a very enjoyable meal there.

This week has been work, and I’ve had a couple of very late nights with parents’ evenings. This does at least mean many of the parents, hopefully most in fact, now know that we are leaving – quite heart warming and wrenching at the same time to be told so many ppl are gutted to hear of our not so imminent departure. Big is finding it hard now, particularly when several of her friends were all over me today saying they didn’t want me to leave, and her behaviour has not been exemplary, but I daresay we’ll get through that too.

And now I must go and put the pizza in.

  3. Well, the Portico sounded lovely! (Minus the pool meltdown.) Sometimes a moment is worth the travail of making the journey.
We had a nice night last weekend celebrating Obama victory around the fire pit.
Leaving a workplace is always difficult. You never know how appreciated you are until you turn in your resignation.
I trust it will all work out for you. You’re too special for it not to.
