Birthday lunch.

We’d invited Em and co and H and co round for a birthday lunch, any time from 11.30 onwards. That meant Small and me heading down town first thing in the morning to pick up stuff for pass the parcel, game prizes and party bags, as well as a few bits for food. We left Tim and Big making birthday cake (lovely to have capable offspring! and must do more of that sort of thing with her) while we headed off to the bargain shop and picked up various bits of tat. Back via the greengrocers and the coop with plenty of food, and I’d just about finished wrapping the pass the parcel when the first guests arrived.

Small got ace presents – a kite and a dynamo Monkey torch which he adores from H and F and T, and books, Kensuke’s Kingdom and Esio Trot from Em and co.

We kicked off with pass the parcel, which went over well, then we retired to the garden as it was way too stuffy in the house. That kind of set the pattern for the day, the kids ran around and played, and the adults sat in the shade and chatted. It was good.

Served food and it mostly got eaten (amazed at how quickly the strawberries disappeared, do love to see children loving fruit 🙂 ) and Tim made lots of tea and it all got drunk. O was adorable and often asleep and there was only one shout from Small which was easily resolved.

A good day. Small decreed it had been a birthday party, so no reruns required in March this time!

And that was another birthday safely out of the way.
