Birthday and travelling.

Small’s 7th birthday. He was thrilled that he had presents to unwrap – from F and T, and from L, and didn’t seem to realise that he might possible get some from us 🙂

He is value for money 😀

Of course we had presents for him. There were the bargains from Choices from soa and Big – two dressing up costumes, a dinosaur and a pirate. A set of binoculars and a couple of films, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

L had sent playmobil, a Special Pirate and Evil Knight and F and T had given him Club Penguin: The Ultimate Official Guide to Club Penguin. All in all, we had one very happy pirate. 😀

While he amused himself with his new stuff, I packed the car. Slowly. D & S popped round with another instalment of gifts for him, including a fab book, Explore Within a Pirate Ship, oh, and another one World Atlas of Dinosaurs and just in case that wasn’t enough, a castles one as well. He was thrilled. (And I was ticking off history and geography as well as ICT )

And eventually, we’d done enough celebrating here, and we set off up north.

We’ll gloss over the journey because it really wasn’t a lot of fun, involving far too much slow driving, too many stops and some baby crying into the bargain. All conspiring to mean that we arrived v late at the party. But we got there, and given that I’d wussed out of doing the tent thing, at least I had no stress about that.

Great party. It has been mentioned in passing a few other places. (If I find any more, I’ll come back and edit.) I loved catching up with so many friends, and also took the opportunity to catch up with family while in Yorkshire.

As for Small, I suspect his best moment was right after we all sang happy birthday to J and J. Because then everyone turned around and sang for him. 😀 In case you’re wondering what his reaction was:

happy birthday

He even got presents while we were there. A fabulous National Trust wildlife explorers kit from Nic and co, and a great Space and Time book from J and J (which I can’t find to check the title to link to, sigh). And Jan found him a badge to wear:

(Yes, that is a dinosaur suit. Yes, he did travel in it. Yes, even went into the services dressed that way. You got a problem with that? *And* I sat and breastfed the baby next to him and stared down anyone and everyone that dared to look askance. Funnily enough no one commented. Wonder why that was.)

So that was Saturday, pretty much. In summary

birthday cakes.

    Happy birthday Small!
Looks like he had a fab time!

  3. Glad he had a fine time. I would have been overjoyed with his presents – pirates, dinosaurs and penguins sound excellent. Although I think I’d settle for the dinosaur suit…

    1. Wish they did dinosaur suits in adult sizes, that would be fab. Was quite impressed to find one that fits him, given he’s working on being a tall 7 year old atm!
