BBC Radio 4 – You and Yours – 1 September 2004

“Home based education

Why are more parents opting out of the school system and choosing to educate their children at home? John Bangs from the NUT, Lesley Saffron from The Otherwsie Club, and Paula Rothermel from Durham University discuss the pros and cons of home based education. ”

On at 12.30. Wow, I’m listening to Radio 4!

Edited to add – listening to this now – they’ve just asked the guy from the NUT what he thinks children who are home edded miss out on, and he’s come up with socialisation! roflpmsl… And here comes Paula Rothermel to scotch that one.

He’s got no answers at all! Incredible. If you don’t go to school, you won’t fit in at school appears to sum up his argument.
