Sheffields famous Tinsley cooling towers will be demolished over the August Bank Holiday weekend, energy giant E.On has announced.
Coo, that’s going to change the landscape somewhat. And the motorway is going to be shut for three junctions for most of the day – intrigued as to what the shop owners at M’hell will make of it all, bet they have a terrible day’s business.

How odd. We admired them on the way home from off the path and I said they were listed. Don’t think I’ve been proved so comprehensively wrong so quickly for a while.
You meant listed for demolition. Obviously. 🙂
We used to be able to see them from our bedroom window when we lived in Sheffield.
I thought they had already gone so was surprised to see them on the drive up.
Took a last picture of them as we passed them coming home again today.
