I’ve been a bit preoccupied. There’s a bit of a situation in a neighbouring LEA, and I’ve been to-ing and fro-ing with emails, reading up on the law, offering phone support and so on. Then yesterday I got a bit upset about some of the actions reported on an email list, and as these things do, it all got a bit out of hand. Couldn’t sleep last night because of it all (and trust me, at the moment that is *really* impressive!). Sent a carefully written email this morning, and got what looked like a less than happy retort (scanned it without reading properly) and then logged off and went out to our local group.
On the way there, still preoccupied and horribly tired, nearly had a car accident. Would have been completely my fault – only averted by both of us doing emergency stops (not that either of us were going fast, as it’s a sticky junction anyway) and that was the final straw. Burst into tears when I arrived at group, then hid in a side room, as they were doing a play, and sing song with amplification (big speakers!) and I just wasn’t up to it. Barbara and Sarah came and were calming and supportive, and Andy from Derby popped his head in and ranted about LEAs with me. Came to the conclusion that I have indeed got my priorities skewed, and so I’m going to radically rein back my extra-curricular activities, concentrate on family, then friends, and maybe try changing the world some other time when I’ve had a bit more sleep 😉
Spent the afternoon over at Barbara’s, where Big is sleeping tonight (she was an absolute star all day – couple of meltdowns, but completely understandable ones (I’d probably get a bit hysterical if someone vomited in my hair too 😉 )) and have come back and resolutely ignored *the* folder with list emails in it, well, OK, I scanned the subject lines, and saw that some even addressed me by name, and decided I still didn’t want to know.
So there you go. Once I’ve got Small to bed I might pop back on as there are a few educational moments in and amongst that I’d like to record for posterity.

I thought you’d been a bit quite. Don’t let the turkeys grind you down 🙂
Obviously meant quiet, not quite. Duh
((Hugs!!)) Shame you didn’t make it to mine for a cuppa we’ll have to arrange something before the end of next week – I’ll have parcels to deliver!
Which list? Come on…. come on….
TBH Jax, i think you are right. You and yours first.. my website second (kidding kidding!) and LEA’s when they get in your way not anyone elses until you have serious time on your hands. Plenty of time for all that, we can be active HEers for a looooooong time yet! You need sleep and brain peace really. ((((hugs))))
I think that’s definitely a good plan Jax.
Eeeuuww to the vomit in the hair 😛
B says sorry about the vomit  Still, they *did* get to prance around in their pajamas for the rest of the day after the bath. Glad to see you are holding it together. No hurry to give Big back tomorrow. For some reason I’ve promised them some painting. *Why* do I do this to myself?
No idea Barbara. Can we come ;~)
oh no… not kidding. Something horribly wrong with bm…
Of course, Merry 😉
Your’re right about the priorities. It’s something I have to *constantly* remind myself of, too, otherwise I get ill. I think its partly to do with being around young children a lot, who totally drain you and then you need to do some grown-up stuff, too, and where’s the time to do it?
Have some (((Jax))), print off your priority list and keep it somewhere visible 🙂
FWIW I think you give a huge amount back to the HE community – particularly considering the age of Big and Small 🙂
