Offset shifts are really confusing my bodyclock. I worked Mon evening, got home and to bed at 1.45am and got up to go back into the office at the normal time on Tues. Then Tues night we stopped in Meltham, spending a very pleasant evening off the path. Weds I felt really tired, despite actually having got more sleep overnight Tues!
Usual day, on pick up from school, made time to see Big’s pin pushing work. She’s made a continent map which is excellent, and she has a good grasp of what she’s done and why. They’ve also been looking at Africa, spending time finding out capital cities of various countries, and identifying the countries on an African continent map. I think I can safely say that she now has a much better grasp of African geography than I ever did! And on the board in the elementary room was a discussion of peace, and why it is a good thing – weighty discussions for 7 year olds. We expanded on it in the car on the way home, and then dug out some songs and a book of music when we got home, so she went to bed with Blowin’ in the Wind echoing round her head.
Small has suddenly started writing numbers all over the place. Letters are still bursting out, but the definite focus this week is numbers. Apparently at school he wasn’t using the full fist grip for pencils, and they were surprised to see him doing that – that’s what he always does at home, so I was surprised to hear that he sometimes did it differently! He’s going to be offered lots of work with the knobbed cylinders, various insets and so on to try to persuade a more useful grip. Not that it seems to inhibit his drawing particularly 😉
And now I’m going to spend the morning (it is still morning isn’t it? I’m very confused) dealing with paperwork and washing and tidying and cleaning. Grandma is coming round to cover the missing overlap this afternoon as I’m due at work at 4 again. I’d say roll on the weekend, but as the kids have yet another party on Sunday (held at the school this time) it will be a pretty short one!
