another day closer

and am I ready? Am I *insert swear word of preference*. 🙁

Up bright and early on the first Saturday that Big didn’t have a swimming lesson in 3 months, as the car was booked in the garage for service and MOT. Hohum. And when I opened the door, it was chucking it down, lovely.

So the car is still at the garage, as apparently it needs some welding, and rather than go get it, then have to take it back for 9am Monday, I decided to leave it there.

Once home, went into major panic mode to get various parcels and cards into the post today – Big mutinied and decided she wouldn’t come out, and as Small is full of cold, left him at home too. So a couple of hours chrimble shopping without any children – result! Well, apart from the having to do a couple of hours shopping. 😉 It was surprisingly not horrendous given how close to Chrimble it is (shrieks inwardly at lack of preparation here), but more like a standard Saturday than I’d expected. Not that I often go shopping on a Saturday anyway.

Home mid afternoon, to be greeted by variously horrid small ppl. Big in a really silly mood, Small just not quite right. Made for a lovely afternoon. Not. So didn’t really do anything – these are the times when I should have a fall back plan in place. And I don’t.

Children eventually in bed and asleep – but it took two of us in shifts to accomplish that with Small. Not good. Still, given that he’d fallen asleep standing up leaning on my legs earlier, not that surprising.

Tomorrow, as they say, is another day.

  1. What a result on the shopping front!
I took ADJ to Toysrus this afternoon to let him spend some birthday money. I was amazed how quiet it was. I was expecting manic shoppers.
    Take care

  2. I was in town too and it was a long way from horrendous. Something tells me online shopping has taken off.

  3. Next year I am doing all my shopping via the www. If I can avoid any and all shops, that has to be a result 🙂 Of course small person is not chuffed – she loves shopping but sadly for her, she has two parents that hate shops with a passion.

  4. yep, we were amazed at how quiet everywhere was yesterday too. I reckon its a combination of organised shoppers doing it early (like in the January sales!), internet shoppers (who are probably all fretting about whether they will get their Barbie / Peter Pan island / bulk order from Amazon!) and large amounts of the populalation being struck down with the evil flu bug 🙂

  5. I was on the A1, twice, yesterday past the Metro Centre and there was nil traffic – that included 5.30 when usually everyone is coming out and jamming the highways and byways around there!!

  6. Amazon is now preparing for dispatch. I can’t change the order now, which means I can’t upgrade the shipping options to first class any more, so I hope they make it. When I ordered initially, on 3 Dec, the estimate delivery date was 16th, so the free postage seemed fine. But I am really impressed with Bright Minds. I only paid for parcel post, but they upgraded it to first at no cost “to ensure xmas delivery”

  7. will keep fingers crossed for you joyce…and yes, that is impressive for Bright minds.

  8. Can you not phone them Joyce? Might be worth a try. Keeping fingers crossed for you too :o)

  9. i got my lord of the rings parcel on the day it came out, despite the free postage – last year they got my parcel to me – and that was a relif because i was in the same position as you, changed it to first class and that made all the despatch dates go back to really long ones again.
