Apart from dictating her experiment today, Big has done lots of work on maths. Completely unprompted and with only a little guidance at that – she found a box of post office toys (tried to find a link, but elc appear to have discontinued it so as to be able to fit in more boxes of plastic food 🙁 ) and set up shop. Lots of weighing things, then she would ask me to look up the price on royalmail, then she’d work out what stamps she needed. Pondering getting her a set of play money – would go nicely into her till and then she’d be able to charge and make change as well 😉 Oh, and of course she had to write addresses on letters she needed to post, so there was plenty of writing too 🙂

They’ve both done lots of dressing up again, but that wasn’t so much of a surprise. Small briefly gave up answering to his name, and insisted on being called Scooby doo, but he got over that quite quickly. He is getting quite agressive atm, and I’m not really sure how to handle it – we’ve been doing time outs, and having little chats, and then he comes back in and apologises. But he seems to think that that is just par for the course, and not something to worry about, so I’m not sure it’s working particularly well as a tactic. Hm.

And tonight we had interactive story time – a family rendition of one of our all time favourites, Rattletrap Car. We followed that up with a quick run through of Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb and then I left Big with a pile of books including a Clifford’s Puppy Days (Clifford the Big Red Dog) and a couple of Curious George titles as well. (Curious George Rides a Bike and Curious George Gets a Medal I think).
