Saturday morning we re-tidied the children’s room, this time to the point that sufficient floor was found to hoover. Quite an achievement, although there was still the strip in between the beds covered in scraps of paper. Tim decided to take the kids out to Framlingham Castle, and I decided to stay at home to see if I could make any headway on my own clearing up.
Finished the strip between the beds, and reorganised the craft shelves, making room for more stuff and hopefully making what is on there more accessible. Time seemed to fly – it’s not often I get to be alone in the house during the day, and I do miss the peace and quiet every now and then.
The children came back full of excitement at having played chess with very big pieces – they’d taken pictures of their game so set it up on a board here and continued it, with a lot of input from Tim. Big was not impressed and claimed that she was not playing against Small, who in turn didn’t realise that he’d won and collapsed in tears. Sigh. Think they could both do with a lower key introduction to chess but neither of them would cooperate with my suggestions.
And that was Saturday pretty much. Tim and I tried out another local indian takeaway and were hugely disappointed – I think we’ve been rather spoilt by living 4 miles from Bradford 🙁 The curries we’ve tried here are so weak as to be utterly pointless – I’m getting better ones from Sainsburys.
Sunday was another Beaver day out at the Scout camp, this time a full day. Small needed to be dropped off at 11, and picked up at 4, meaning that I’d to be up in time to get him organised including packed lunch and everything packed from suncream to waterproof coat. The skies were slightly threatening when we set off, and then 10 miles down the road it was baking!
Big and I stopped off in a local sports shop and managed to pick up a new swimming costume for her, and new trunks, longer swim shorts for beach trips and a white sports top for Small, all for under £10. Bargain. Didn’t find any shorts for her though, and that is what we’d set off for!
Quiet day with only one child, which flew by again, until it was time to go out and pick him up again. He’d had a great time, and made a whizzer, bought himself a whistle and a plane and was looking very tired. Home for tea and then bed.
