and another day

worked from home today – could have borrowed Tim’s car for the drive in, but couldn’t face the concept tbh. Not 100% sure how much work I actually did – lots of faffing round with email conversations at managerial and therefore easy to misunderstand levels. Managed to not make any disastrous mistakes despite feeling shattered and achy all day – this is probably just after effects from yesterday, but as the first person from the office has now gone down with a sickness bug, could be the precursor to something else 🙁

Other than that, discovered what wonderful friends I have 🙂 Rang school to arrange an extra day for the smalls on Monday (with Tim being away, and me needing to be in the office not much of an option otherwise) and chatted about my car, or lack thereof. A’s hubby called back minutes later to offer me use of her old car! Apparently it’s just sitting idle atm, is tested and serviced and perfectly serviceable, although the tax has run out, but I can use it for as long as I want, and then just give it back when I get something else sorted out. He says the best time to buy is the 3rd/4th week in March when car salesrooms are trying to clear the part exs they’ve got from ppl buying cars with a new reg. At least this will give me chance to sort things out in a leisurely fashion rather than having to run out next weekend (which could be rather difficult as we’ve now three social engagements then!) So on Monday I’ll be making arrangements to sort out taxing and insuring a merc, how’s that for irony?

Tonight I’ve loafed and played scrabulous (it was an excellent word Helen 😉 ) and tried for the third time to get to grips with lace knitting. I’ve failed horribly, and am going to frog the scarf yet again (got to say that the yarn is standing up to that really well) and I’ve found a different pattern I’m going to try. Gotta love ravelry, as I found it through the pattern search on there.

Oh, and the book, Lifetimes, I ordered in a hurry before Christmas finally arrived. By contrast to yesterdays sellers who I will not be recommending when I place feedback, these ppl had already offered to replace this when it didn’t arrive before Christmas (I ordered it the night before last posting dates, so I was hoping for it, but not expecting it iyswim), and when I mailed to say that it had arrived, mailed back immediately to thank me for letting them know. That’s customer service. Think it might have been Bob that recommended this one? Got to say thanks for the recommendation anyway, it’s perfect for the conversations we need to be having, just in case, with the smalls. I’m sure it’s not going to answer all their possible questions, but it will help us prepare them a little for eventualities that will occur at some point, though hopefully no time soon.

Now, off to knit a little before retiring to bed with my book 🙂

  1. Ooh we borrowed that book from the library having read the blogpost of yours that spawned the comments, it was really good. 🙂
Hope you’re just achey from the trauma of yesterday and not going down with lurgy.

  2. Steve reckons there is far less of a rush on new cars since the advent of March and September registrations, he doesn’t see as much of a flurry as they used to when it was a once a year thing. Apparently.
Anyway it’s good to hear that you have the loan of something to tide you over – really helps that you don’t have to rush into another purchase. Of course you know if we can help on the car front we will, despite the distance between us!
