Accidental acquisition

I didn’t mean to buy the book. Honest. It just sort of fell into my (Amazon) basket, and then I thought I had another click before the order would be placed and … Anyway. My Amazon order arrived yesterday. I’ve got the Bookkeeping book to read at some point when I’m feeling enthusiastic, and I retired to bed last night with Circle of Quiet (Crosswicks Journal).

Madeleine L’Engle is one of my favourite authors. Or at least, she’s the author of one of my favourite books. I’m really looking forward to Big being ready to read (or have read to her) A Wrinkle in Time (Puffin Modern Classics)

So that was the end of yesterday, and the beginning of today. I got breakfast in bed, and then when I sat up considering the getting up idea, and discovered that the world was spinning rapidly past me, I got lunch in bed too. Somehow with the aid of copious cups of tea and paracetamol, I managed to lever myself out and we headed off for a quick shopping expedition.

Big and I, as mentioned several times recently, have been exploring art. Tim and I discussed Easter, and rather than buying more eggs to add to the chocolate heap, we decided on art stuff, so headed off to the works to get watercolour paints. We already have gouache (sp?) and I wanted to be able to do some of the things in the many Princess Things to Make and Do (Usborne Activities) books we have around the place. I’m sure it’s that one that has the watercolour pictures in it, although it could well be in fairy or mermaid instead :rolls: When we got back, we got the art stuff out and all gathered round and experimented. Tim took piccies which I’m hoping he’ll blog. (edited to add pictures)

And that pretty much wraps up the day. A surprise phone call from N from Hearth and Home Education because one of the servers was playing up – nice to catch up, shame about the prompt, tea, and children have been shoved off to bed. I’m considering heading up myself – that headache I had earlier has made a reappearance, feels like a ball bearing on a string just behind my left temple. (That was nearly the title of this blogpost actually 🙁 ) I’d like to be doing something, but I’m a bit uninspired by my two UFOs in progress, and I don’t want to start any more before I finish at least one of those off. (Actually I have three in progress, but I’m not up to the tapestry crochet tonight!) Think I forgot to mention the new pattern site I found the other night, and I’m drooling over several patterns from there. I’d like to make this for Big, think it would look great over leggings as the current fashion runs. I adore this jacket for Small, and I’m tempted by a shrug for myself. Or maybe a jacket.

Aaargh, decisions. Except having finally sorted all my stash into one place, I’ve discovered how much stash I have, and I can’t be buying anything more until I’ve worked my way through some of what I have already. Wonder if I could rework a pattern or two to be doable in some of what I already have…

  1. Darn you. No no no no no. Lovely crochet site, very tempted by some of those jumpers. Must not crochet Any more Wraps/shawls/ponchos am banned from those. really shouldn’t crochet jumpers now its getting warm either….but lovely patterns…..I have a rule, no starting anything until the last thing is finished. I’d never finish anything otherwise.

  2. gorgeous patterns! but I already have a huge folder full of what I want to make so I’m not looking (honest!)
What WIPs are you working on now?

  3. I still have the shrug mentioned over there in the sidebar, although it’s over 50% complete now. And I started a bag in the cotton I’ve got left over from my mother’s shawl – got to use some of it somehow!

  4. It was nice to chat. Would be nice to see you at some point too :0)
