a party of people

sounds like a good whatdyamacallit noun 🙂

It’s been Big’s birthday weekend. Slightly disorganised start to it as my planned working from home Friday evaporated on Thursday evening, meaning that Tim had to run off out shopping pretty much as the Beans arrived. Didn’t seem to dent the festivities – the elder girls were overjoyed to see each other and rapidly departed upstairs, and the not so smalls pottered around the adults as we started in on the tea and wine. First surreal event of the weekend was Small talking to BB as he prepared to show her the way upstairs “it’s not scary, there are no crocodiles and there are no lions.” Strangely enough, she decided to stay downstairs at that point!

Very late night on Friday evening – BB was particularly taken by the air mattresses “I bounce!” SB trotted up and down the stairs for quite some time, but did eventually keel over in her own space, and I think adults may have managed some sleep in between.

Saturday was bowling in the afternoon after a very relaxed morning – we left in convoy on time and met up with assorted ppl at Hollywood bowl. Lovely to see everyone there and I know all the children had a fantastic time. I particularly enjoyed watching bigger girls helping smaller ppl to lift their bowling balls onto the frames (and I will come back and edit this with piccies as we’ve many 🙂 ) and also the fact that it was the pure enjoyment of the bowling that was getting them – I don’t think one child was even aware of their scores 😉 Only down point to the afternoon was Small who started out well, but possibly related to lack of sleep, wilted rather as the afternoon went on (who knew it could take 2 hours for one game of bowling? 😉 ) and eventually burst into tears because of the noise. It then all got a bit confused as Tim and I departed in a bit of a rush, leaving a front door key, Big and her car seat with Chris and Helen, while we tootled home via pizza hut to grab pizza for various families.

Lovely evening back at ours – remarkably harmonious considering there were 16 bodies in our little living room at various points! The cake went down well, and at some stage Big opened a number of beautifully chosen presents (not a single bit of broken tat in sight!) and oohed over those too. She’s started making fimo beads with soft fimo and a bead roller, which I must go and start cooking in a minute 🙂

Much earlier night for several very tired children, meaning that we adults actually had a much later one 😉 Another remarkably laid back morning – I didn’t start making ‘I’m up’ moves until I got a text from Merry saying she was on her way 🙂

Once Merry had arrived, got to ooh and ahh over some of her newest purchases – looking forward to fitting in some creating with some of those soon. Right now though, my creative time is taken up with the newest project in the sidebar, which is coming along nicely. Must pop off and add a few more beads to the total 🙂

Beans, when next you call in, bring one less pillow would you? And we’ll give you yours back (I’m not posting that!) Haven’t found anything else abandoned yet. 😀

I thought it was particularly thoughtful of Merry to take a little while once she said she was coming, so as we all had time to have breakfast and get organized etc… 🙂
