Well, for the washing machine maybe!

The rest of us got up bright and early, after yet another night sleeping through for Small (almost afraid to blog it in case he somehow hears 😉 ) and I decided we’d risk a trip to M’hell. I thought if we went to be there as the shops opened it wouldn’t be too bad…

strange how so many other ppl had the same idea! That’ll be our last weekend trip there before Christmas – it will just be mad from now on. Can tell it’s a bad sign when they are having to open the overflow carparks, mind if they weren’t digging one of the normal ones up (again!), anyway… we swapped the oversize AA rechargeable batteries for Tim, then headed for ELC. We’d found a voucher of Big’s from her birthday (last January, *blush* ) and I wanted to get her the Jolly Phonics workbooks that I’d had a look at at Alison’s. I know we could have waited and gone tomorrow, but I just had this feeling that I really need to follow up on her interest in her sounds as soon as possible.

We were in ELC for 45 minutes! Small was like, well a child in a toyshop lol. He didn’t know where to look first. I’d gone without the buggy (still in Tim’s boot) although I’d taken my new Ergo just in case. I thought it would do Small good to wander around, although I think I’ve got a few more grey hairs from the experience. He has no fear, and doesn’t look back at all…I also got my ELC discount card – the woman I asked didn’t even blink when I mentioned discount for home educators, just got out a file and handed me a form. Result!

So now we have all the Jolly Phonic workbooks, and Big sat for a while and explained them to Tim, and then sat for ages working her way through the first one. She did s, a and half of t, and there was even maths going on as she kept stopping to work out how many letters she had left – well impressed when I was asked what comes after 29 and she just kept going. For some reason she’s been stuck at 26 for ages.

Before we came home though they both had a play in the little Tikes area which went down well, and then I carried Small while we went to Poundland to get a drink. So I think I can tick off PE as well 😉 and socialisation, ‘cos when I was struggling to get Small into the Ergo on my own, a complete stranger got up and offered to help. And we had a nice chat about carriers…

Home this afternoon and Small has continued with the PE – I keep having to lift him down from the windowsill. Think I might have to rearrange the furniture to move the sofa away, but not sure where I can put it? I’ve fiddled around online, cleaned the kitchen and done a pasta bake, which they are now eating. Early bath I think as they both seem rather tired.

  2. Jax, hi there! Please refresh my memory; what was that messaging software that allows you to talk to people with msn, yahoo, aol etc ids all in one rogramme. I quite fancy giving it a try thanks v. mcuh 🙂

  3. odigo?

  4. Simon, it’s trillian – cerulean studios – I use the free version. I found Odigo, but it isn’t as comprehensive as trillian.

  5. Oh, yes, should have remembered that one, have heard it raved about enough ….
Thought I’d actually left a proper comment earlier, but apparently not!
Sounds like you had a good day – very productive – even if you did have to overcome the insane car park in the first place 🙂

  6. Sounds like a good productive day Jax. Sounds like LC isn’t the only one stepping up 3 gears – well done to big.
