A baby step to autonomy?

“What can I do? give me something to do…”

“Well, OK, we can do some reading, or some maths”

“I don’t want to do that” pause “I’ll go and find myself something to do. I’ll do some drawing.” And she went and got paper (for both of them), crayons (for both of them) and some stencils, and they did pictures.

It may not sound much to you, but it’s a biggie for me! 😉

  1. Hmm. I got told off yesterday because there was nothing written on the calendar. “so what are we doing today?” Anna asks me almost every day, it’s very tiresome. So I can understand why you’d be pleased, well done to Big.

  2. I found it *very* difficult to switch to autonomy, so I can definitely sympathise with it being a biggie 😉
Hmmmm….. I should blog about how it happened with us. It’s just occured to me that I never explained that.

  3. Ooh, yes, Gill – please do, I’d be really interested to read that.

  4. Breakthrough!! xx

  5. Sarah, I’ve done it now 🙂 (& I *think* I’ve corrected all the typos! It was full of ’em!)

  6. Oh, that must have been nice to hear 🙂

  7. Wow, real breakthrough I’d say! Let’s hope it keeps up!
