She looks gorgeous and the dress is great. How do you get your role? I mean how was she lucky enough to be one of the young ladies and not the scullery maid?

In this case they were setting up a new station – 1920s hadn’t been done before – so they worked it out between them. She was actually playing a real person, daughter of the family renting Kentwell in 1927. The rest were made up – a visiting tailor and his lad, an aunt chaperoning the group and so on.
For the tudor events, we put in a form with our skills and preferences and we’re assigned a station, we then work out our own roles within.
