Playmobil easter eggs – the mermaid, the pirate and the boy with a ball.

I know it was only just Christmas, but it’s already coming up on Easter (the joys of movable festivals). If you’re looking for something a little more lasting (and a little less over packaged), I highly recommend Playmobil easter eggs instead of the traditional chocolate variety. We reviewed some last year, and I loved the range of accessories and felt that they were really good value.

If anything, I like this year’s range even better 🙂

Smallest absolutely adores the mermaid. Word to the wise, this has lots of *very* small pieces in it. They are gorgeous – there are shells and sea plants and so on – but they’re also very easy to lose. We play on a tray with this one, and mainly what she does is arrange it and tell stories about mermaid

Except of course, when she’s playing with the pirate. And the footballer. With all three sets out on the table, I was hugely amused by the narration when the football was swapped out for the pirate’s skull (I really wished I’d had my camera to hand at that point!)

Of the three sets, I thought the footballer was the weakest. However, I’m not a (nearly) 4 year old boy, and he thinks it’s fantastic. You can kick the ball into the net over and over and over again. And then Tim came in, and he started kicking the ball into the net too.

I guess it’s just not my thing 😉

(And if the mermaid has taken your football, you can, as mentioned above, kick the skull into the net instead.)

I’ve gone on record before saying that the thing I love about Playmobil is the imaginative play it allows. How the kids have played with these little sets shows that beautifully, and there’s so much more value to them than you’d get out of the same spend on chocolate. (I feel a little disloyal to chocolate saying that, but easter eggs do annoy me. You pay for the packaging and end up with a tiny bit of chocolate. Just annoying.)

Basically – buy Playmobil. OK?

You can find out more about the whole range at or via Playmobil easter eggs (affiliate link).

(Disclosure. I’m a playmobil playologist, and we get sent toys to review. My children are very happy with this arrangement.)
