Start with The Kitchen
The kitchen is quite possibly one of the most dangerous areas for you to deal with around the home. If you can, you need to child-proof it because if you don’t then you may find that you end up causing a serious accidentConsider the location of your chairs and stools, as it is easy for your child to climb on them and access things they shouldn’t. You also need to give some thought to your oven. Does it get hot? Is it within reaching distance from your child? If so then you need to try and take time to deal with this now. Decide which drawers are accessible and which ones shouldn’t be too, so you can keep your child as safe as possible.
Electronics and Appliances
Throughout every home, there are electrical outlets. Nowadays, it’s so important that you make sure that your gadgets are not harmful to your child. Hair tongs and straighteners pose a major threat to those who are under the age of one. Make sure that you keep yours out of reach and that you take the time to keep it this way until they are cool enough to put away. Sockets are also a major hazard. Kids love them, and you may find that your child often tries to put their fingers in them. One way for you to get around this would be for you to get socket covers so you can keep your child safe.
Stairs
Securing stairs with a stair gate is a must. Fitting a stair gate to the top or bottom of your stairs will help you out quite a lot here. You can use non-screw-fit gates if you want, or you can use a pressure-fit one. These are handier to install but they also have a bar across the bottom which can make them a tripping hazard. If you are welcoming a new baby then you may find that they end up becoming inquisitive and this can take you by surprise sometimes. If you are currently trying for another baby then getting this done now will save you a lot of hassle. If you are having a hard time conceiving then you can look into the process of IVF.
So as you can see, baby-proofing your home is easier than ever when you know what steps to take. If you want to help yourself, make sure that you look into these points so you can make sure that your child is always as safe as they can be. If you don’t then you may end up putting them at risk when all of this can be avoided if you simply think ahead.
