Cinderella and the Hulkbuster with Sky backstage at The O2

A little while ago I took the three younger kids down to the O2 in London for a look around Sky Backstage. It was a fab day out – turns out the O2 is really accessible from here, we got a mainline train down to Stratford, changed to the Jubilee line and it’s 3 stops down the line. Really easy. Even easier if you manage to get your ticket *before* you get on board the train, and your 3 year old *doesn’t* push the alarm button in the lift at the tube station.

Hohum.

Anyway, there were Avengers and Cinderella things on show during our little event, and some wonderful food which sadly I don’t seem to have taken any pictures of.

Tigerboy loves the camera, and the camera loves him. This is what happens if you ask him to smile.

Smallest had a wonderful time with Felicity the Vintage Fairy, who taught her to tie knots, which came in handy during Christmas crafting. There were balloons, which as ever, generate instant happiness (and despair down the line when they pop. I hate balloons. Have I mentioned that?)

Small had the most awesome day. He wore Hulk hands, enjoyed the food, tried out a VR game (I’m trying to talk him into blogging about that) read the news and tried out the Hulkbuster game.

Tigerboy loved the Hulkbuster too, and when I work out what I’ve done with the pictures from that, I’ll add them in.

For now, the news, according to Small. (With huge thanks to Craig from Sky Social who stepped in as (semi) responsible adult given that Smallest was having a screaming meltdown and I didn’t have a clone of myself to be in the newsroom with him while she made excessive amounts of noise about the fact that we hadn’t reached the Cinderella shoe thing yet.

I think they both did remarkably well, don’t you?

We then went on to try on Cinderella’s shoe. Which is an equal opportunity glass slipper, and fits all feet, from the blogger before us through to the tiny tootsies of Tigerboy. And why not?

After all of that, we were a bit exhausted. OK, I was a bit exhausted. We started to head out of the venue in search of food, but one of the door staff overheard our plan and recommended the eating places inside as being more child friendly. So we explored a little and found Frankie and Benny’s, which has an excellent kids menu. Just as last time, the waiter pointed out that the junior pizza is the same size as the adult pizza, but more customisable and much cheaper, coming with dessert and a drink for a fraction of the price of the main menu item. Which made for a very happy Small, who added mushrooms and enjoyed his plateful.

Tigerboy had the kids pizza which is half the size but comes with chips, and Smallest had fishfingers. They all enjoyed dessert while I went for double espresso in the hope that I’d stay awake for the journey home, remembering that there was a car drive at the other end of the tube and train journey.

All in all, it was a very lovely day out, and many thanks to the Sky Social team for the invite. Oddly, our first Christmas event this year, and set us up nicely for Christmas camp the day after.
