September snippets

{Blogging} I blogged every day in September. Completely coincidentally, I had my best month stats wise for ages. I did rather run out of material a couple of times, and I’m not convinced I’m up for daily blogging any more, but it was a really interesting challenge 🙂

{Kentwell} Small and I attended the last Tudor reenactment of the season and it was really really lovely. The weather was extremely kind, borrowing a caravan made it a very straightforward and comfortable sleeping experience, and I got to spend time with a friend I’ve not seen for ages as well as making new ones. And I learnt to dip candles 🙂

{family} Small and I had an overnight trip to Yorkshire to help my sister celebrate her (ahem)th birthday. Was lovely to see folks and a very much easier trip without smaller car sick children. (Suggestions re car sickness gratefully accepted. It’s making life hard! )

{instagram} I’m trying to focus creativity by taking part in the showup100 challenge I mentioned the other day. It’s not being entirely successful.

{Running} have completed C25K program although I’m not running 5k yet. It does seem to help my hip which was very stiff after 8 hours driving to and from Yorkshire, but not my back oddly.

Snapshots

Big is really focusing on her art at the moment and doing some gorgeous stuff. I watched her karate practice on Thursday and was very tempted to join in.

Small started Japanese last week, which was apparently less conversational than he was hoping but may improve. Got to be worth a shot anyway.

Smallest has had the best day ever (I’m quoting) and has discovered rainbow fairy books. I think she’s going through them at a rate of one a night!

Tigerboy is still refusing to read and is now full of cold. He has also had a good day though so yay.

  1. I bought about 30 of those Rainbow Fairy books at a sale (5p each) two years ago and we’ve just donated them to my school English library. DD loved them for a while too and then at some point she realized that they were all the same story with different props.

I wanted to ask you if you’d blogged all 30 days. I only managed 18 in the end but this is fine (Tots up 16 and only 39 away from the top 500 again). I als came to the conclusion that it’s best to blog when I actually have something to say rather than because I have to blog. Although there’s a lot to be said for doing it more regularly.

Wishing you a good October x

    • Smallest is reading one a night at the moment, and I’m sure she’ll work it out at some point, hopefully before we run out (we’ve got about 14 of them I think).

Yes, I blogged everyday, although several days it was posting for the sake of posting so I think your conclusion an excellent one. Is the new tots out already??

  2. ‘Joyrides’ were the only thing that helped with motion sickness for me and my children, but I don’t even know if they are still available (I could only buy them in the UK). Love that Small is doing Japanese – it was the favourite course of one of my children, and I’m still looking for a follow up.

  3. Sounds like a great month. I struggled so much with carsickness as a child. My kids aren’t too bad, only a handful of times. I’d try the seabands, but I remember taking tablets as a child which helped. Sounds like a lovely time with small and yay for your sister’s birthday. We are almost birthday twins. Well done on blogging hon. What a star xx
