The super blood moon last night was incredible. The three youngest children saw it – each of the younger two just had a look, while Small stayed up for around an hour watching it.
I didn’t get a red picture. For some reason it didn’t occur to me to try manual focus, and the light wasn’t enough for auto focus. But I got one afterwards as the eclipse uneclipsed as it were.
I’m glad we got up and watched it. I wasn’t nearly as glad at 8 am when Big couldn’t find her uniform and the little ones decided it was time to get up anyway.
Glorious sunshine helped though. And the day ended fine too – Big and I walked down to the sea front and sat on a bench chatting for a while. I miss my eldest now she’s out at school all day – we didn’t live in each other’s pockets by any stretch of the imagination before she went, but we did used to do things like pop to the shops together, or watch a film now and then, or read the same book.
So good to be out together. And on the way back, we saw a sun dog, which rounded it all off in a very picturesque way.

It was a lovely evening and you were so lucky to see a sun dog. I dragged my 8 and 12 year old boys out of bed for a little peak at the moon although they were too bleary eyed to take it in totally!!

Have to admit I really love sun dogs. I’d never even heard of them before a couple of months back, I think that’s the third I’ve seen now.

I miss C when she’s studying for her GCSEs and she’s doing them at home! So can really understand you missing Big.
I’m mega impressed with her though. It’s a lot of work just doing 3. I don’t think C could do more than 3 without sacrificing some of the other things she wants to do.

There are only two evenings Big isn’t occupied outside the house. And so many weekends are vanishing to cadets and DofE. But they are all her choices, so I have to grin and bear it.
Don’t want to though.
Feels like haven’t seen you in forever.
Michelle says
It feels like forever for me too. I feel as though I’ve lost a summer. not seen many folk at all.
Jax Blunt says
That was how I felt last year when I couldn’t drive, and I’m not sure I’ve caught up with myself yet. 🙁

It was amazing to watch, I loved it. Tried to capture it too, but didn’t get a good one. The boys slept right through my thumping and trying to waken them x
