I’m sure you all remember earlier this year when I raved about the Divergent movie premiere? You’ll know that I thought that it was a pretty good interpretation of the book, and that basically I’m quite a big fan.
Well, today the DVD came out, so if you missed it at the cinema, you can now grab it in a variety of outlets. And if you don’t want to buy it, you can enter my giveaway to win a copy!
Yes, I’ve got a copy of the film on DVD *and* Insurgent the book to giveaway. I’m so good to you. It’s all in the widget below.
We were very lucky to be sent a copy of the DVD to check out so that we could remind ourselves of the film. It’s as good as I remembered, with some really fantastic action scenes. (I would say that, I’m a fan.) I’m still intrigued as to how the plot holes are going to be filled in – but I’ve seen some of the deleted scenes and I can quite see why they didn’t make the cut. It really wouldn’t have been a 12A, and it would have been a much darker film than I enjoy. For all I enjoy thrillers, I’m not fond of gratuitous gore, and what I can cope with in a book is much more difficult on screen.
I’ve seen quite a few criticisms of the world displayed in the film though, and for many of the people pointing out flaws, the best advice I can give is read the book. It’s far more complete, and while it might give you a few questions, they’ll be very different ones to those inspired by the film.
So, who’s watching Divergent this week? Must be a few of you out there! And what’s your faction?

My favourite character was Natalie.
