Resources carnival – educational stuff for home or school.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to contribute to my latest carnival, I really appreciate it.

The theme was resources, although I’ll always link to general (home) education posts too. This is about sharing the love after all 🙂

So, on resources for encouraging writing, a fab write up from home ed mama on story cubes, I’ll definitely be looking into these.

Keris recommends Brainpop – and makes me think I really should give it a second try.

Absolutely love this very comprehensive list of resources from Alison. And yes, I’ve a feeling I might still have a Schofield and Sims book or two kicking about as well 😉

Rachel from home ed family shares her my atelier art activities, I’m very tempted by this.

I’ve done two posts, one on the younger children, and one on Small’s resources. I wish I had some of this Lego Education stuff that Hannah has found though!

Helen shares how she keeps track of resource use with a ticksheet that helps keep everyone focussed and gives plenty of options.

Lisa dug into her archives and came up with this gem on learning to read – lots of great suggestions there, and the very useful reminder that all children are different.

There are lots of educational apps out there, but managing to get your hands on the right device to play them on isn’t straight forward. I’m friends with a lovely charity on twitter, who help people recycle unwanted mobile phones and exchange them for iPads. All above board I assure you, you can find out more here.

Junior Scholars is a resources site that I chat with on twitter, and they wrote an article on the pros and cons of home schooling (I prefer the term home education) as they see it. Do they have it right?
