I’ve been banging on about welfare reform on and off all year. The attacks on the vulnerable by this government are insidious and constant. The NHS is under threat. The welfare state is being whittled away. Homeless right to council housing is set to evaporate, and I don’t know where it will stop.
I’d like to ask you to take one action tonight. Sign Pat’s petition. If 100,000 people sign, it might be debated in the house of commons. Maybe the opposition party might find their collective spine and stand up for those who need defending.
Can I ask for another action after you’ve signed? Spread the word. Get your partner to sign. Got a sister or brother? Get them in on the act. Adult children? Line them up too. Share it on Facebook, email your mates, bung it on g+. We’ve got less than a week to make this happen.
I have to believe that there are at least 100,000 people in this country who think what is going on here is wrong. Remember, one day it could be you.

I went to sign the petition as I totally agree with it. I filled in my name, email and address and confirmed that I am a British Citizen. I filled in my Town and postcode no problem. When I came to write Israel as the country of residence, the only option was to click on Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. This is a debate I am willing to have but until we do, I am not willing to take on all Pat’s political views on any and every subject in order to support this one. Sorry, I won’t be signing.

The petition site is provided by the government, as I understand it, those aren’t Pat’s views. I can understand you having an issue with it though, and it is obviously completely your decision as to what you do regarding this petition.
