Tough long day.

17th November 2011 by Jax Blunt 3 Comments

We stopped an extra night at our friends’ house – my plan was to get up and out bright and early so that I’d get a couple of hours of house excavation in before the afternoon of chaos began. The children thwarted that plan by mutinying over the whole getting ready and leaving so in the end we didn’t get home until 1, with a dentist appt 12 miles away at 2.25. ๐Ÿ™

In fact, if Smallest hadn’t been being her adorable self, it’s entirely possible I’d have sat down and cried at some point trying to drag the other two out. But a child whose first action is to grin when you wake them up, then stretch roll over, sit up and say brightly “Morning Mummy!” will do a lot to restore your good mood.

So there was the dentist, complete with Big’s three monthly fluoride polish, Smallest refusing to open her mouth for a check at all, and Small being lectured about cleaning his teeth better and more often. Maybe he’ll listen to the dentist. He certainly doesn’t listen to me ๐Ÿ™ Then a route march back to the car and quick dash home to recover swimming stuff, before the next dash to the leisure centre for Rookie lifeguard and Small’s swimming. Apparently he was doing a badge tonight, though we weren’t quite sure which one. Might have been 100metres. He also came out of the water with a big bruise on one arm, not sure how he achieved that!

Then home, and the excavation proper had to begin. I’ve sorted two washing baskets worth of laundry out of the kids’ room, three boxes of rubbish into the hall (need to sort tomorrow into rubbish and recycling) and packed up a box of excess new baby stuff for a local friend who is due just a few days before me. That only leaves the 15 or so black bags that came out of the bedroom to deal with ๐Ÿ™

It may be a bit quiet on here for the next few days…

You’ve been de-cluttering since I’ve known you, where did all this stuff come from? You’ll have a house twice the size when you’ve finished by the sound of it. Good luck!
