The other day we bought BRIO 32807 Bob the Builder Builder System: Scoop for Small. It arrived very quickly, and is sitting in its nice anonymous Amazon box waiting for wrapping.
However this morning, watching Milkshake, Small has seen Kid K’nex – Bucket of Buddies – 70pc on an advert. Very politely he said “I wish I had that. I could make dinosaurs.”
Hm. Ever get the feeling you may have bought the wrong thing?
And I still don’t really have a clue what to get Big!
However, the shawl for mother is coming along pretty well. I now have 6 of the 10 motifs made and attached together, an a seventh underway. With a bit of luck I should have it finished by the end of the week, leaving a reasonable amount of time to do that other pattern I bought ๐
In educational news, Big has done her reading, and is now moaning over the fact that her more than three year old blopens have dried out. I think they did pretty well lasting that long actually. Writing to do next, and then I’m desperate to get a couple of packages in the post. I’ve a little work to finish too, and I must get some washing in.
Merry says
i need your address; i’ve lost it again!
Sarah says
Still find it hard to imagine Small saying whole sentences, I have obviously not seen enough of you recently ๐ Get the K’nex and keep the brio for his birthday?
Jax says
Sarah, I live with him and still find it hard to believe! But no, we haven’t seen enough of each other recently ๐
Pondering the K’nex thing, I’m told that Tesco have it.
rosie says
hmm- I was thinking of that kidknex, when Xmas seemed in the distant future…I think I looked into that and ordinary knex- was it Argos?
Leo says
You only give one present?
Jax says
No. They’ll both get wearables (each getting something I’m making as well as shop bought). There will probably be a book or set of books each, and perhaps a watchable (have got her a dvd, but not one for him yet). I’ve got a couple of crafty bits on order as well. But I’m trying to limit it somewhat, and I don’t want to give them a big stack of toys each. Over the last couple of years, my entire family (and there are rather a lot of them) has gone completely bonkers and they end up with enough stuff between them to stock a small orphanage. As they are both utterly unable to get rid of anything, the house is beginning to creak at the seams somewhat.
Tim says
what do you mean “somewhat”. The mice are demanding Lebensraum. ๐
HelenHaricot says
yeah, kiddiknex in different sizes in tesco’s.
although we buy more than one present, we try and be frugal, and they do include home ed stuff as well [SB asked for geometry stuff!]
Leo says
I follow a family tradition of showing generosity at Christmas. So I got over a quarter century of items ordered and all of them are stuff my offspring chose and really wants. Not counting with the advent calendar, stuff offspring buys and random presents to celebrate we are alive another day. ๐
HelenHaricot says
I very much agree with generosity and enjoying we are alive every day.
I am lucky that I will again be spending xmas with a large amount of family at my house with a convivial atmosphere, only minimal lurking tensions and family dynamics, and the main slant being on enjoying each others company. we do play games, the tv doesn’t go on [nor is it requrested] .
The children will have plenty enough presents to feel they have a lot, but not loads. We have neither the free money at the moment, nor the desire to do so. And although they re of quite different ages, a number of the presents are being bought to share from the outset by us and other family members.
I am also lucky enough to buy small gifts through the year as I see them for the girls. Each to their own Leo.
