I bought myself a new toy this week. Last week. I started playing with it this week.
It’s a photo tent, with two lights, a camera stand and a bunch of backgrounds. Cool, isn’t it?
I don’t have the first idea what I’m doing with it. Or what I want to do with it. I just know that my photography doesn’t zing, my blog doesn’t leap out at you, and I don’t feel creative. And all of those things are contributing to making me feel a little lost, as my words seem to have wandered off too.
So I gave it a go, yesterday. The pictures I liked best were actually the pictures of the pictures I took on my phone. This could be something to do with the fact that when I looked at the shots I’d taken, I hadn’t managed to get a single one with the book title *without* the soft toy in the way.
Sigh. Did I mention the hopelessly non visual thing earlier on? Perhaps I should have. I kind of know what I want to do. Or I know it when I see it. But I wouldn’t be able to draw it, can’t describe it, and I’m not doing very well in planning it.
Be a while before I reach the standard of photography on a site like Shutterstock. I mean, you totally believe I took this shot, right?
Picture of picture on digital camera on Shutterstock
You really don’t. Not least because it’s not the right camera 😉
I’m really enjoying exploring Shutterstock actually. And their blog is fantastic for photography hints and tips. (I’m absolutely making myself one of these portable table top kits.) Inspirational in fact.
I think it enhances my blog, just a little. What do you think? Do you ever use stock photography? Would you? Let me know.
Disclosure: I’m exploring Shutterstock at their invitation. Check out their pricing here.
