I thought Solstice was yesterday. (In my defence, it’s often on the 21st. Except when it’s not, like this year. Solstice is the moment the sun reaches its most southerly position, which was 4.49 am or some such, so this morning’s sunrise was the one to watch.)
Shame, because yesterday’s was better.

This morning there was only grey and lighter grey and darker grey. Wind and a promise of rain on a day far too warm to herald the start of winter.

But later on, there were blue skies.
There is still enough warmth in the day to spend the sunset hour on the beach, wind whipped to be sure, but enjoyable.
Although the draw was a promise of hot chocolate on the way home.
The day was supposed to hold craft and tidying and a tree, and instead I have dragged myself through it, poking at my todo list in a half hearted manner, and mainly just being.
But we made memories. We talked about shortest days and solstices, and the sun in the sky, and we saw the moonrise, and wore chocolate moustaches.

All good, right?
Happy solstice to you all.
