Recently we received a Sylvanian Family set to review.
Surprisingly, this is our first close encounter with Syvlanians. Many of the childrens’ friends have had them, we’ve just never got round to it somehow.
Now that we have, I’m really not sure why. I was a bit nervous about the clothes – I distinctly remember Small causing great upset by removing clothes that weren’t supposed to be removed. However, within seconds of these coming out of the pack, Tigerboy was doing exactly the same – and it turns out that the clothes are easily removable, and fitted with velcro fastenings so that they can be undressed and redressed. They are a bit fiddly for small people to put on of course, but they come off easily enough.
The animals are jointed so that you can pose them, and they’re an ideal size to pop in a bag to go out and about with you – to the beach perhaps.
If you follow me on instagram (what, you don’t? Why ever not?) you’ll have noticed shots of the family out and about, tagged with #SylvanianSummer. This is because running until 31st August there’s a fab competition to win a family holiday, by sharing pictures of your Sylvanians enjoying the summer. You can find the full competition details on the Sylvanian families website, and I do advise you check it out, because the rules are quite detailed. No naked Sylvanians for example – so if your child strips them, hang on to the clothes 😉
But other than that, the main idea is to have fun, and get out and about in the sunshine. So we’ve had Sylvanians blowing bubbles, and building a raft, climbing in the garden, and obviously, trekking to the beach. You’ll need to follow Sylvanian families on your chosen picture sharing social network, and share the pictures with the #SylvanianSummer tag (like I say, check out the full rules in detail as linked above). So what are you waiting for? Grab your squirrels, a camera, and get out there!
Disclosure: the squirrels were sent free of charge for review. No payment has been received, and I was not directed to write about the competition, I’m doing that out of the goodness of my heart, when really I should be keeping shtum so as to have a better chance of winning.
