Living in a future I didn’t choose

It’s a bit horrifying on social media at the moment. Threats against women apparently for existing. Tales of secret agents visiting households after Google searches for a backpack by the husband and a pressure cooker for the wife.

Propaganda masquerading as investigative reporting on the tv and in newspapers. The UK home office tweeting about suspected #immigrationoffenders after random stop and searches that apparently targeted non white individuals. I feel like I’ve wandered into a future straight out of a YA dystopian novel, and it’s not what I had in mind at all.

What do we do to change the ending? Without having to kill each other on reality tv?

  1. If i google the backpack/pressure cooker thing, as I’ve not seen this, will I also be investigated?

  2. I found it – unbelievable! Luckily I don’t have a pressure cooker or a rice cooker. Better hide my backpack though, just to be on the safe side.

Have seen a follow up post that says searches were done on a work computer and ex employer turned them in. Which almost seems worse, could have been a personal thing though?
