Radiators and heating and stuff.

This should have been yesterday’s post. But the day got away from me. I’ve been very stressed since the boiler broke down on Friday. I got up and it was making a roaring noise and the flame was bright orange. We turned it off and when the chap came to look there was no debate, a new boiler was required.

They started with at 8am yesterday. And this afternoon the heating was turned back on. It was briefly wonderful. Then they went home and a little while later the bathroom radiator gave up the ghost and spilled hot black water all over the bathroom floor.

I’ve lost count of how many radiators that is that have leaked in this house. I think there are two that haven’t because we disconnected and replaced them. One of the new ones perished less than a year after it was put in. I’d like a different solution please, preferably involving lower bills and renewable energy and with no ability to ruin the carpets.

Please let everything get fixed tomorrow. I’ve got work to do.

A strange synergy is operating – I spent the last two days FREEZING as the boiler in our new house failed, and failed, and failed…. I hope a solution presents itself – and fast.

  3. How strange! We had a new boiler installed last month when ours broke down and we decided to stop chucking money at it and 2 hours after connection it stopped working. Two hours! A brand new boiler! My screams could be heard from Vaillant’s head office
